Component Sub-Titles: Film - Eternal Circle Score - On Stasis Script - From Here to There Eventually Concept Drawings and Storyboards - (Amplified Heat)
“Amplified Heat” merges a 16mm-film installation with a live performance featuring an original score and script. Loosely structured as a series of excursions into real and remembered landscapes, the 45-minute artwork is composed of original and found footage. Synced with the film’s rhythmic voiceover, the live performance layers in melodic electric-guitar riffs and subtle, droning sound effects.
As a whole, the multi-component Amplified Heat functions like a lyric essay, poetically meditating on themes of nostalgia (for both what is real and imagined); loss of memory (both personal and collective); and decay (of landscapes, civilizations and traditions, as well as humans’ relationships to such grand entities).
What started as three distinct single channel works shot on film developed into a long from non linear essay film with a live performed stereo score created specifically for the performance with a series of drawings/storyboards that informed the “chapters” of the film. The film itself is entitled Eternal Circle and consists of Dawn Brides Veil, Drowned and We Sit Here Stranded. The stereo score is entitled On Stasis. The script is called From Here to There Eventually (developed on residency with “Sonic Peripheries”) while the concept or storyboards are titled simply Amplified Heat.
